About Dr. Spitz

I have been practicing privately for the past thirty years treating children, adolescents and adults. Working with individuals of all ages affords me a broad view and appreciation of individual development across the life span. In addition to my psychotherapy practice I am actively engaged in the training of other psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers.

I attended the University of Pennsylvania as an undergraduate and completed my doctoral psychology studies at New York University. During my training I worked at psychiatric hospitals, outpatient mental health clinics, and counseling centers. I continued my education with psychoanalytic post-doctoral training.

I am on faculty and teach and train experienced psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers at a variety of institutions in NYC and Westchester. I served as Director of the Westchester Center for the Study of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy from 2010-2013. In addition, I provide community presentations on a variety of subjects and have written academic papers for conferences and professional journals.
